Role: Analytics Engineer
Location: Greater Rockford, IL Area
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an Analytics Engineer to analyze diesel engine systems, components, and hardware for an engine manufacturing company. Utilize hand calculations, computer aided engineering (CAE) software, and internal tools for problem-solving in hardware design, failure investigations, and concept evaluations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Generate clear reports documenting analyses and tests, subject to external review.
* Perform various analyses including hand calculations, shock and vibration qualifications, torsional vibration analysis, failure/root cause analysis, static and dynamic FEA, and other engineering analyses as needed.
* Develop test procedures, assist in fixture design, and validate analysis results through testing.
* Coordinate external analysis projects, evaluate results, and maintain centralized analysis reports and models.
* Standardize and implement best-practice analysis guidelines.
Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years experience in engineering analysis or MSME graduate; related fields considered.
* Strong understanding of mechanical engineering systems with emphasis on dynamics and vibration.
* Experience in engine design or development preferred.
* Creative, motivated, and able to work independently and in teams.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Proficiency in 3D modeling tools (SolidWorks preferred) and stress analysis using hand calculations and FEA (ANSYS preferred).
* Beneficial experience with MathCAD, MATLAB, and/or Maple.
* Problem-solving skills in solid mechanics, dynamics, and/or thermal-fluids systems.
