Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing the Manufacturing Engineering team focused on Aircraft Assembly. Collaborate closely with Production Management to identify and implement process enhancements in areas such as leveled scheduling of shop floor operations, efficient layout design to optimize manufacturing productivity, and effective shop floor controls to mitigate shortages through improved processes. Conduct analysis of production operations to enhance efficiency, quality, and adherence to schedules. Ensure alignment across teams to minimize process variations and eliminate non-value-added activities from the shop floor environment. Lead problem-solving initiatives and interface with vendors for equipment purchasing, serving as a liaison between design and manufacturing departments.
Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrate proficiency in Machining, Sheet Metal fabrication, and special processes.
- Research, justify, select, and procure capital equipment and/or processes.
- Learn operational procedures for newly acquired capital equipment.
- Troubleshoot material and manufacturing issues.
- Optimize work sequencing and workflow across machines and work centers.
- Evaluate make versus buy decisions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate outsourcing of parts when necessary.
- Develop conceptual tooling and fabrication designs.
- Establish and implement Manufacturing Engineering policies and procedures.
- Stay updated with the latest Manufacturing Engineering technologies.
- Provide budgetary information and project updates to management.
- Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for layout and line flow optimization.
- Coordinate facility changes in collaboration with Manufacturing, Facilities, Production Control, Quality Assurance, and Management.
- Perform workflow, capacity, quantitative, and throughput analyses.
- Conduct cost analysis as required and maintain relevant charts.
- Interface effectively with machine operators, middle and upper management, and vendors.
- Promote and implement Lean Tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis; assess effectiveness.
- Lead or participate in Kaizen events and train others in facilitation techniques.
- Measure and report results of Lean implementations.
- Foster a culture of problem-solving throughout the organization.
- Train and mentor plant staff on Lean tools and methodologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise the Assembly Manufacturing Engineering Team, ensuring high-performance levels across the team.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Avionics, or Manufacturing Engineering, with seven years of engineering experience, preferably in aircraft manufacturing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Unigraphics II, Microsoft Project, and Office suite programs is essential.
